Thursday Thirteen - Edition 52

Since our tummy clocks have been set ahead for the last couple of weeks (meaning we're ready to eat around 4:30 instead of 5:30), we (mostly EG) pester Momma until she caves in and feeds us. After we eat, we both bathe for 20-25 minutes, and then we play Thundering Herd of Elephants. So we're in an all-out, high speed, loud-stomping game by 5:05 or so. Unfortunately, Momma is not on the same page since she likes to go right back to bed (something about not really having to get up until 6:50), so she gets a little crabby for some reason. Here's a list of things heard around our house between the hours of 4 and 7 am:

1. EG! No! (As EG is pushing books off the dresser onto Titus' head)
2. You snot! (Directed at EG)
3. No bite! (Also directed at EG when he gives Momma's toes the bitey)
4. Lay down! (Futile attempt to get us to go back to sleep)
5. It's not time yet. (Directed at all of us once we get Titus all riled up)
6. Oh, for the love of cat.
7. Ow! (Directed at EG after he chomps Momma's toes)
8. Why don't you get your Dad up? Why is it always Momma? Why? Why? Why?
9. Did you guys have speed for breakfast? (After we had played THofE for close to two hours - hee hee)
10. Go night night. It's still night night time.
11. Grrrrr.
12. Can't we just sleep in til regular time?
13. EG, you keep doing this, you need to learn how to make coffee.

  1. That's funny . . . mommy says a lot of that same stuff to us between 3 and 5!

  2. Too funny! :) Our dad says #8 a lot (except substituting mom for dad) since we wake up our dad for breakfast. He's the one who has to get up early to go to work, so it seems only fair that we wake him up (although we do wake up our mom when our dad is away).

  6. EG, it sounds like a hoot at your house at zero dark-thirty! The only one I didn't read was "Angus, that's my eye!"

  7. *GRIN*! Earl, I love that you're a nibbler like me. I like to nibble on Mom's and Dad's elbows! And yes, we Ballicai concentrate our wake-up efforts on Mom, too!

MaoMao and I love playing Thundering Herd at 5 a.m., too. That's the very best time! And Mom and Dad hear *thud thud thud* MAO MAO MAO *thud thud thud* SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!

Love and cuddles and lots and lots of whiskie kisses, cutie!

  8. What an excellent list! It sounds like you have your humans well-trained. We Ballicai do, too. *smile* I don't talk much most of the time, but at stinky goodness time, I make up for it -- I sing Operatic Stinky Goodness Arias!

    Purrs and snuggles from Marilyn!

  12. I can NEVER get mum out of bed early to feed me. She is much more stubborn about that than your mum.

  15. You guys are lucky ta be able ta get yer Bein up early. We haf no luck wif that AT ALL! Sometimes he sleeps so late we get our breakfast at lunchtime...

If we bite his toes, we dont get our Fancy Feast breakfast at all an we gotta eat the dry kibble. If we run ofer him, he just grabs us an gives us tummy rubs till we fall asleep. He sleeps sounder in the morning than a dead mousie. He doesnt care if we push stuff offa the tables or dressers cause there is nothin breakable.

  16. My tummy clock thinks I need feeding at all the kitten meal times even now they've left home! Mummy's helping me adjust with a little nibble of something at kitten feeding time each day, though she says she'll cut back on that over time...
